A friendly and supportive two-form entry primary school in Horsham is seeking a caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with Special Educational Needs within Key Stage 1.

The Role

Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil with SEN
Support the child’s academic, social and emotional development
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support staff
Adapt learning activities to meet the child’s individual needs
Encourage independence, confidence and engagement in learning
Implement strategies outlined in support plans and interventions
Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, staff and parents

The Ideal Candidate

Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery or childcare setting
Experience supporting children with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, or SEMH is desirable
Patient, resilient and nurturing approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations
Passion for supporting children’s learning and wellbeing
