Job Title: LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT - SEN

Term-time - 30 hours per week, 38.6 weeks per year (including 5 INSET days)

Full-time or part-time considered

Reports to: Head of SENCO

Salary: Starting salary NJC scale 3, scale point 5. £21,544 per annum.

(FTE £30,408 per annum).

Rising to NJC scale 3, scale point 6. £21,852 per annum.

(FTE £30,843 per annum).

Working Days: 5 days per week (part-time considered)

Working Hours: 30 hours per week. 8.30am - 3.00pm, including30 minute unpaid lunch break.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Learning Support Assistant - SEN to work as part of a small team and working with teaching staff to support access to learning for students with specific needs, both in groups and on a 1-1 basis, delivering pre and post teaching support as required. The role would suit an experienced support assistants or someone considering a career in youth work or teaching. The successful applicant will:

Be enthusiastic about working with a range of pupils with differing needs and abilities.

Show initiative and a willingness to be involved in all aspects of school life.

Possess a good general level of education and be emotionally robust and capable of dealing with challenging student behaviour.

Have a proven track record of good working relationships and professionalism.

Feel confident in working independently with small groups of pupils.

Vyners is a very popular and oversubscribed mixed eight form entry, 11-18 comprehensive school situated in a pleasant residential area in North West London, bordering Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. We have a track record of real success at all Key Stages. In 2026, 79% of students achieved grades 9-4 in both English and Maths at GCSE and we are consistently ranked in the top 10% of all schools nationally for progress measures and attainment. At A-Level 25% of all grades were A* - A and 51% A* - B. The school converted to academy status on 1 November 2011 and is part of the Vanguard Learning Trust which also includes one other secondary and four primary schools.
