Teaching Assistant

Location: Halesowen

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a supportive Teaching Assistant to start immediately. This Teaching Assistant position will involve working with children and young people aged 4 to 19 who have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), complex communication needs, cognition and learning difficulties, and associated social and developmental needs. Many pupils require specialist support with communication, sensory processing, emotional regulation, independence, and everyday life skills.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils with autism, communication difficulties, and complex learning needs.
• Help implement individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and personalised learning programmes.
• Adapt classroom resources and activities to meet a range of learning styles and abilities.
• Use a total communication approach, including visual aids, Makaton, symbols, and other specialist communication strategies.
• Support pupils with sensory needs, emotional regulation, and social development.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and participation in learning and community-based activities.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists, families, and other professionals to provide consistent and effective support.

This Teaching Assistant role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping children and young people develop their communication skills, independence, and confidence while overcoming barriers to learning.

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, autism, communication difficulties, or complex learning needs.
