About the role

  • Hours of work: 37
  • Working pattern: Monday - Friday
  • Term weeks: 38 weeks term time + additional 2 weeks non-term time
  • Contract: Maternity cover

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning, improve attendance, develop positive behaviour and achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will work closely with students, families, teaching staff and external agencies to provide targeted intervention and support for pupils whose behaviour, attendance or wellbeing may be impacting upon their educational progress.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide mentoring and pastoral support to identified students.
  • Work proactively with students to improve behaviour, engagement and attitudes to learning.
  • Support the implementation of behaviour strategies and interventions.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress against agreed targets.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families and external agencies.
  • Assist with attendance improvement strategies and safeguarding procedures as required.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive and supportive school culture.

  • Has experience of working with young people, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Can establish positive and professional relationships with students and families.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is calm, consistent and resilient when managing challenging situations.
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Is committed to supporting all students to achieve success.
