Job Title - Traffic Marshal / Banksman
Location - BS11
Job Overview
We are looking for a reliable and safety-conscious Traffic Marshal / Banksman to join our team on a busy construction site. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the safe movement of vehicles, plant and pedestrians around the site.
You will work closely with site management, drivers, plant operators and other site personnel to maintain a safe and organised working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and control the movement of vehicles entering, leaving and moving around the site.
- Safely guide HGVs, delivery vehicles, plant and other vehicles into designated areas.
- Assist drivers with reversing and manoeuvring where required.
- Maintain clear separation between pedestrians, vehicles and site operations.
- Use appropriate hand signals and communication methods when directing vehicles.
- Monitor site access and ensure vehicles follow designated routes.
- Assist with deliveries and ensure vehicles are positioned safely.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised traffic management area.
- Report hazards, unsafe behaviour, accidents or near misses to the Site Manager.
- Follow all site traffic management plans, RAMS and health & safety procedures.
- Ensure visitors, delivery drivers and contractors follow site safety requirements.
- Wear appropriate PPE and maintain high standards of site safety at all times.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Traffic Marshal, Banksman or in a similar construction site role.
- Valid Traffic Marshal / Banksman qualification or certification.
- CSCS card where required by the site.
- Good understanding of construction site health and safety.
- Ability to communicate clearly with drivers, plant operators and site staff.
- Good awareness of vehicle and pedestrian safety.
- Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work.
- Ability to remain alert and focused in a busy site environment.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Desirable
- Previous experience on busy construction or civil engineering sites.
- Experience directing HGVs and delivery vehicles.
- Slinger/Signaller qualification.
- Experience working with site traffic management plans.
- Additional construction-related qualifications.
