As the authority for the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine capability, the Submarine Directorate oversees one of the most complex and critical elements of UK defence. Covering everything from in‑service management to long‑term fleet modernisation, the directorate ensures the Submarine Flotilla remains safe, reliable, and ready to meet national security requirements.
You'll be based at HMNB Clyde, home to the UK Submarine Service. It sustains the nation’s continuous at-sea deterrent and supports the Royal Navy’s fleet of nuclear-powered submarines. As a centre of excellence for submarine operations, Clyde plays a critical role in national security and global stability.
This position is a Reserved Post within the Civil Service, for which only sole UK nationals are eligible. Under the Civil Service Nationality Rules, UK nationals include British citizens, British subjects with the right of abode in the United Kingdom, and British Overseas Territories citizens.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
Submarine Flotilla (SUBFLOT) is the nerve centre of the Submarine Service. It supports operations around the globe and provides the submarines, people, and equipment to deliver the UK’s defence policy.
In the Submarine Flotilla, our civil servants work alongside their military colleagues in jobs that matter; jobs which often have a direct impact on the quality of the operational capabilities we deliver. What you will be doing:
- Acting as SO2 1* Command Information Management
- Support LDPA activity across the Flotilla
- Acting as Flotilla Records Manager
- Acting as JIRA Manager
- Develop a programme level Information Strategy and Management Plan, working closely with security and project teams ensuring it aligns to multiple organisations Information Strategies.
- This role offers the opportunity to increase knowledge of internal IM and the Defence Policy’s that influence this smarter ways of working
- Develop and review the information and document management processes and procedures.
- Ensure adherence to the processes for Learning from Experience / Knowledge Management is maintained and ensure projects within the programme areas adherence.
- Implement information assurance activities, including the development of plans as appropriate.
- Ensure the implementation of appropriate sharing platforms including the plan for migration of data from the current directories into the new structure and monitoring Flotilla coherence, is continuously improved.
- Manage and update communication platforms, liaising with the Head of Engagement for relevant content.
