Job Title: Painter and Decorator

Location: Salisbury (SP4)

Job Purpose

To prepare, repair, and decorate internal and external surfaces to a high professional standard, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with customer requirements and company quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces for decoration by cleaning, sanding, filling, stripping, and repairing as required.
• Carry out making good works, including filling cracks and holes, repairing damaged plaster, and ensuring surfaces are smooth and ready for decoration.
• Apply paint, varnish, stain, wallpaper, and other decorative finishes to internal and external surfaces.
• Protect surrounding areas, fixtures, fittings, and furniture before commencing work.
• Select and mix paints and finishes to achieve the required colour and finish.
• Use brushes, rollers, spray equipment, and other decorating tools safely and effectively.
• Complete external decorating works, including preparation and painting of masonry, woodwork, metalwork, fences, and other exterior surfaces.
• Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, including the safe use of ladders, scaffolding, and access equipment.
• Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment throughout each project.
• Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and rectify any defects where necessary.
• Communicate professionally with clients, site managers, and colleagues.
• Accurately estimate materials required and minimise waste.
• Report any additional repairs or maintenance issues identified during works.

Skills and Experience

• Proven experience as a Painter and Decorator.
• Strong knowledge of surface preparation and decorating techniques.
• Experience in making good, patch repairs, and surface restoration.
• Ability to work on both residential and commercial properties.
• Knowledge of paints, coatings, fillers, and decorating materials.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Full UK driving licence (desirable).
