Technical Support Manager

Our client, a long-established mechanical engineering solutions provider based in the West Midlands is seeking a Technical Support Manager to oversee the delivery of high-quality technical support services whilst driving commercial performance across the business.  This role blends string technical expertise with commercial acumen to ensure customer satisfaction, operational efficiency and revenue growth. The position acts as a key link between customers, sales teams and technical staff, to deliver exceptional service and identify new commercial opportunities.

Key responsibilities encompass:

Operational Management – oversee daily operations of the pump repair workshop and field service activities including strip-downs, inspections, machining, assembly, alignment and performance testing; ensure jobs are scheduled efficiently and completed within agreed timescales; implement & monitor quality control processes to maintain high repair standards; conduct technical assessments and approve repair scopes, quotations and final reports; manage inventory, tooling and maintenance of workshop equipment; ensure compliance with safety procedures, industry regulations and company policies.

Commercial & Financial Management – prepare & approve quotations, repair proposals and tender submissions; support sales teams with technical presentations, site surveys and tender responses; identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements and margin enhancement; build & maintain string relationships with key customers & suppliers.

We are seeking an ambitious and self-motivated HNC/HND qualified individual, with experience in pump repair, rotating equipment, engineering or mechanical services. A deep understanding of pumps and rotating equipment is highly desirable, coupled with strong leadership and team-management skills.
