Job summary
Defence Cyber Electromagnetic Force (DCEMF) help protect the UK's critical Defence digital capabilities. As a Digital Enterprise Operating Authority Cyber Compliance SME, you will provide specialist cyber security advice, assess risks, support assurance activities and help ensure compliance across complex Defence systems. Job description
- Be responsible for managing your own projects, alongside supporting your team with their assigned projects, under MOD Network Defensive Cyber Policy.
- Lead and support the DEOA CC team by providing technical advice for new and current projects within the MOD community, other Government departments and industry specialists, on policy-based cyber defence requirements.
- Provide support to DEOA CC and the Digital Enterprise Authority Board (DEAB) for projects seeking authority to operate on the MOD digital enterprise. Working with projects, Service Transition Officers (STO) and the DEAB team to provide project position and updates prior to the board, feeding into technical documentation and providing high level statements against requests for ongoing compliance to MOD policy.
- Lead and ensure the creation of Knowledge Base Articles (KBAs) for projects undergoing MOD policy compliance; ensuring all projects submit their required documentation.
- Ensure MOD Network Defensive Cyber Policy and linked technical guidance is maintained and updated, as new Cyber Defence capabilities are enabled as technologies change.
- Assist and support the coordination of the DEOA CC responses for MOD risk balance cases and network joining requests, ensuring adherence to cyber operational directives contained in current MOD Policy
- Working with the DEOA CC Deputy Head, define the cyber technical requirements for MOD and industry gateways.
- As required, lead on technical reviews of architectural documentation (high- and low-level design documents) to ensure projects will be compliant with policy.
- Working with DEOA CC Control to develop, maintain, and enhance relevant businesses and ways of working between DEOA CC team, Joint Cyber Defence area, the STO and the DEOA Governance Team. This must include engagement and co-ordination with the Defensive Cyber Contractor.
- Build on relationships within the Joint Cyber Defence business area and with key stakeholders, to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of system and service delivery and sustainment.
- Line manage civilian and military personnel.
- Deputise for DEOA CC Deputy Head when required.
Person specification
We would like to see some previous experience in at least one of the following: Cyber Security Governance/Management, Technical Project Management, Risk Management and/or Operational Security Management but remain open to applications from results-driven candidates in other categories of role with a strong proven technical ability.
Ideally, you’ll have the following skills/qualities:

- Great communication skills, able to converse at a wide variety of levels
- Able to lead both technical and non-technical teams

Dependent on the business need, there may be a requirement to travel to meetings within the UK (or potentially occasional overseas visits).

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and working from home as part of a non-contractual hybrid working arrangement. All office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to site capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD workplace, will also count towards this level of office attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
