HLTA – Learning Hub | Secondary School | Sheffield
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Until Christmas, with potential for a permanent position
Location: Sheffield
Working Pattern: Full-time, Monday – Friday
Pay: £120–£180 per day, depending on experience
Provide Education are currently recruiting for an experienced HLTA to join a welcoming secondary school in Sheffield, supporting pupils within the school’s Learning Hub.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HLTA, Level 3 Teaching Assistant or teacher with a strong background in intervention work, particularly those who have experience supporting upper primary age pupils, or pupils who are working significantly below age-related expectations.
The Role
The successful candidate will work within the school’s Learning Hub, delivering targeted support to pupils across KS3. Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning, delivering and assessing Year 7 Maths intervention groups for pupils working at a very low ability level.
- Planning and delivering reading intervention groups for pupils across Years 7–9.
- Supporting pupils who are not yet meeting age-related expectations and helping them make progress towards their individual learning goals.
- Planning, delivering and assessing targeted Maths and Literacy interventions.
- Monitoring pupil progress and adapting interventions to meet individual needs.
- Working closely with teaching staff and the SEND team to ensure interventions are targeted and effective.
- Building positive relationships with pupils and creating a supportive, encouraging learning environment.
- Supporting pupils with a range of additional learning needs within the Learning Hub.
The Ideal Candidate
The school has specifically requested candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Minimum Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or above – essential.
- Proven experience planning and leading small-group interventions – essential.
- Experience delivering Maths and Literacy interventions.
- Ideally, experience as an HLTA or teacher with upper-primary experience.
- Alternatively, strong experience working within a secondary school delivering interventions to pupils who are working below age-related expectations.
- Confident planning, delivering and assessing Maths and Literacy interventions.
- A patient, encouraging and adaptable approach to supporting pupils with low attainment.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Previous experience working within a secondary school or similar educational setting.
