About the role
Our client is a global leader in the design and manufacture of advanced high-frequency electronic products used across sectors including satellite communications, defence, telecommunications and other cutting-edge technology applications.
As the business continues to invest in its advanced manufacturing and assembly capabilities, they are looking to strengthen their Process Engineering team with the addition of a hands-on engineer who can support the development, optimisation and industrialisation of complex semiconductor and RF assembly processes.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working between R&D and production, helping to bring new technologies into a robust, scalable manufacturing environment.
The Role
Working closely with Engineering, Quality and Operations teams, you will be responsible for developing, validating and improving advanced assembly processes, supporting both new product introduction and ongoing production activities.
A key focus of the role will be die attach and interconnect technologies, ensuring processes are capable, repeatable and aligned with future technology requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, evaluate and optimise advanced die attach processes including silver epoxy, silver sinter and eutectic attach technologies.
- Support the development and optimisation of gold wire and ribbon bonding processes.
- Define process parameters, validation methodologies and qualification plans.
- Conduct thermal, mechanical and reliability assessments to ensure long-term product performance.
- Work alongside RF Engineering teams to evaluate new manufacturing technologies and materials.
- Lead process trials, proof-of-concept builds and technology feasibility activities.
- Drive continuous improvement projects focused on yield, quality, throughput and cost reduction.
- Implement process controls including SPC, Cp/Cpk analysis and yield monitoring.
- Lead structured root cause investigations using tools such as 8D, DMAIC and FMEA.
- Support New Product Introduction activities through DFM/DFA reviews, pilot builds and process validation.
- Develop process documentation, SOPs, control plans and manufacturing standards.
- Assist with equipment specification, commissioning and automation projects where required.
About You
We're keen to speak with engineers who have experience within semiconductor, electronics, advanced manufacturing, RF, power electronics or other high-precision production environments.
You will ideally have:
- Degree qualification in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or a related discipline.
- Experience developing and improving manufacturing processes in a technical production environment.
- Hands-on knowledge of one or more of the following:
- Silver epoxy die attach
- Silver sintering
- Eutectic die attach
- Gold wire bonding
- Strong understanding of materials behaviour, thermal management and reliability considerations.
- Experience of process validation, capability studies and statistical analysis techniques.
- A structured and analytical approach to problem solving.
- The ability to work effectively across engineering and manufacturing teams.
- A proactive, hands-on mindset and a desire to improve processes and performance.
Desirable Experience
- Semiconductor or RF module assembly environments.
- High-precision automotive electronics or power electronics manufacturing.
- Experience with automation, process stability and zero-defect manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of RF packaging requirements and JEDEC standards.
- Experience with thermomechanical modelling and reliability testing.
- Familiarity with IATF 16949 and/or ISO 9001 quality systems.
