About the role
Admin Officer
Location: North Yorkshire TS1 2AE
Working Days / Hours: Mon - Fri 37 hours
Working Pattern: 9am - 5pm
Pay Rate: £12.86 per hour
If you're someone who enjoys variety, helping people get the right support, and keeping services running smoothly, Our Client is looking to hire an AO to support hearing administration and day-to-day operational needs at the Combined Court location. It's a role where clear communication, careful admin, and calm problem-solving really make a difference.
What you'll be doing:
* Undertake administrative tasks to prepare for, facilitate, and support hearings
* Provide support and signposting to users and stakeholders via face to face contact, telephone (incoming and outbound), and responding to correspondence in different formats
* Use HMCTS service scripts and knowledge to direct people to relevant services, including those with specific or complex needs
* Follow complaints policies and procedures-supporting users through the process and responding promptly where needed to prevent escalation (including updating OPTIC as required)
* Process operational support work using standard operating procedures to meet performance targets and maintain service standards
* Handle case files, ensuring accurate data entry, secure information management, and compliance with retention and data loss protocols
* Support jury service tasks (selection, deferral, reassignment, attendance tracking) and process related expenses and court fees
* Assist with listing and scheduling, helping ensure efficient use of judicial time and adherence to listing policies
* Provide dedicated judicial business support such as diary coordination and local administrative tasks
* Support enforcement procedures, including financial assessments, aiding fine collection, and producing basic statistical/financial reports
* Contribute to health and safety operations (e.g., PEEPs, facility checks, issue logging, and key/safety governance under team leader guidance)
* Help identify risks relating to HMCTS buildings and inform the Senior Person on Site (SPoS) as required
What you'll bring:
* A confident, supportive communication style-able to give clear, consistent information to a range of users
* Strong attention to detail, particularly when handling case files, fees, expenses, and accurate data entry
* A calm approach under pressure, with the ability to follow procedures and act quickly to prevent escalation
* Good organisational skills to manage competing tasks, listings, and administrative responsibilities
* A commitment to security, compliance, and responsible information handling
