  • Assist with the clearance of fly-tipping and other waste.
  • Undertake grounds maintenance duties, including grass cutting, strimming, pruning and planting.
  • Assist with snow clearing and gritting when required.
  • Use basic tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Complete pre-use checks on equipment and report any faults or defects.
  • Record completed tasks, faults and on-site issues accurately using handheld devices.
  • Follow all Health & Safety policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Report any problems or issues to the Team Leader promptly.
  • Work at different locations as required.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and respond to straightforward queries from members of the public.
  • Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will:

  • Be able to follow instructions, policies and procedures.
  • Have a good understanding of the importance of Health & Safety.
  • Be physically capable of carrying out manual and outdoor work.
  • Be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Be able to adapt to changing priorities, locations and working environments.
  • Be able to work to deadlines and complete tasks efficiently.
  • Be willing to use handheld ICT devices or learn how to use them.
  • Be reliable, flexible and have a positive attitude.

Working Hours

The role is 37 hours per week, worked over a 7-day period. Shift patterns are to be confirmed, and candidates must be flexible to meet the needs of the service.

Additional Information

The role involves frequent lifting and carrying of moderately heavy equipment and requires the successful candidate to wear appropriate PPE.

You may occasionally work alone and will also be expected to work as part of a wider team.

Training will be provided, and no previous experience is essential.
