About the role
Bordon Infant and Junior Schools are growing as schools and due to some staffing changes, we are looking to appoint a new Teaching Assistant. We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who cares about the children in their class and in our school.
We have a fantastic track record of supporting LSAs into teaching so if that is a route you are considering we may be the school for you. There are many different routes that can be taken to achieve this and the school will provide the support and experience to enable the right candidate to eventually be a highly successful teacher. If being a teacher is not for you, we have many other professional development opportunities.
Our ideal candidate will be able to support teaching staff in planning and providing for the learning needs of all children. They will also be able to work with the SENCo in running small group and 1-1 interventions. This means that proficient ICT skills are a must for our ideal candidate, along with the willingness to contribute to the wider needs of our school.
We also require all support staff to be able to plan for and teach groups to meet the needs of our children, so the ability to recognise and cater for the needs of a specific group of children is essential.
Our Learning Support Assistants are also our Lunchtime Supervisory Assistants, providing an outstanding play experience for the children
We are seeking applicants who:
Committed to the highest possible levels of achievement for every child
Have excellent teamwork skills
Can work under the direction of the class teacher but at the same time showing initiative
Have the patience and the imagination to help and inspire our children with their learning
Has trained to NVQ level 2 standard or above
Has GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English to grade C or above
We can offer:
A friendly staff who have a genuine desire to help and support each other
Amazing children who make coming into work each day exciting
An exciting career opportunity with a commitment from the school to support professional development
Support from a strong and established SLT with all aspects of the role
What is Bordon Infants and Juniors like?
We are popular and successful schools in the town of Bordon. We have recently expanded the Infant School from two forms of entry into three forms and now Bordon Juniors is growing from two forms into three. All our classes are full, and we regularly have a waiting list of children wanting to join us.
Bordon is a developing town and there is current a lot of building work in the area to create new houses, shops and infrastructure.
We believe a school should be the heart of the community. As our community grows and changes, we are there to support our children and families by creating a happy and inspiring learning community.
The Infant school was judged by Ofsted as Good again in January 2023, and the Juniors in November 2022 and would recommend to any candidate to read our reports.
Each of the academies in the University of Chichester Academy Trust has a unique identity, but a shared believe in creating a positive, enriching and inclusive learning environment where all staff and children feel valued.
At our school we are a strong team who work to do our very best for all the children. Every child is an individual, with individual needs and we do our utmost to meet those needs. You would be joining a fun and friendly team who would offer you all the encouragement and support you would need starting a new school.
The University of Chichester Academy Trust
You will be part of The University of Chichester Academy Trust, which is uniquely positioned to make a difference in the local educational landscape. The Trust currently encompasses 17 academies, 2 Inclusion centres, and a School-Centred Initial Teacher Training base, all based in Hampshire, Portsmouth, and West Sussex. While we share a common vision and values, each academy has its own identity that contributes to its local community. The Trust is committed to valuing the uniqueness of each school.
Two-Week October Half Term
We have introduced a two-week October half-term across all our schools. This initiative is already making a positive impact, giving staff and pupils a valuable break during the long autumn term, reducing absence through illness, and supporting overall well-being. It also brings greater consistency across our Trust, creating a more connected and efficient way of working. It’s just one example of how we prioritise our people and create a working environment where everyone can thrive.
Diversity and Inclusion
At the University of Chichester Academy Trust, we believe that diversity drives creativity, innovation, and excellence. We are committed to providing equality of opportunity, fostering an inclusive culture, and creating a community where everyone feels they belong. We particularly welcome applications from individuals who are underrepresented within our workforce, including those from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic backgrounds, disabled individuals, LGBTQI+ individuals, and women—especially for senior leadership roles.
