Are you a Primary Teacher interested in moving into SEN?
Looking for a Primary Teacher SEN job in Croydon? Forward Teaching is recruiting a qualified Primary Teacher for a fantastic full-time opportunity within a specialist Autism Provision based in a mainstream primary school on the Croydon/Bromley border.
This is an excellent opportunity for a mainstream teacher who has experience supporting children with additional needs and would now like to develop their career within SEN. In particular, the school is keen to hear from teachers who have developed a passion for SEN through their experience in mainstream education.
No previous specialist school experience required
Importantly, you do not need to have previously taught in a special school or specialist provision to be considered for this role.
Instead, the school is looking for a qualified teacher who has experience working with pupils with SEN and, most importantly, has a genuine interest in autism, additional needs and inclusive education.
Therefore, if you’ve considered moving into SEN but haven’t yet had the opportunity to gain specialist teaching experience, this could be the ideal next step in your career.
The role
As the class teacher, you’ll be working within the school’s specialist Autism Provision. You’ll support pupils with autism and additional needs in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
You’ll be responsible for planning and delivering engaging and accessible learning. At the same time, you’ll adapt your teaching to meet the individual needs of the pupils you support.
In addition, you’ll work closely with support staff and other education professionals to help pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally.
We’re looking for a teacher who:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Has experience working with pupils with SEN/SEND
- Has strong primary classroom experience
- Has a genuine interest in autism and additional needs
- Is patient, adaptable and able to build positive relationships with pupils
- Is enthusiastic about developing their SEN knowledge and experience
- Would be excited by the opportunity to transition from mainstream into specialist teaching
Previous experience teaching in an SEN school or Autism Provision is not essential.
Why consider this opportunity?
For a teacher interested in SEN, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop specialist experience while continuing to work within the supportive environment of a mainstream primary school.
Furthermore, the role could be particularly suited to a Primary Teacher who has enjoyed supporting pupils with additional needs and is now looking for an opportunity to make SEN a bigger part of their career.
