The Role

We are seeking an experienced General Practitioner (GP) to join the healthcare team within a well-established prison managed by one of the UK's leading private prison management companies.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will provide comprehensive primary care services to patients within a secure environment. What You'll Be Doing

• Deliver high-quality primary care consultations within a secure prison healthcare setting.

• Assess, diagnose and manage a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions.

• Develop personalised treatment plans and prescribe medication in accordance with national clinical guidelines.

• Manage long-term conditions, health promotion initiatives and preventative healthcare programmes.

• Identify and appropriately manage patients with complex physical, mental health and substance misuse needs.

• Work closely with nurses, mental health practitioners, pharmacists, substance misuse teams and other healthcare professionals to deliver integrated care.

• Refer patients to secondary care services where clinically appropriate and coordinate ongoing care.

• Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records using electronic patient record systems.

• Participate in clinical governance, safeguarding, audit and quality improvement activities.

• Deliver care in accordance with prison security procedures while maintaining patient dignity, confidentiality and professional standards.

What We're Looking For

Applicants must:

• Hold full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise.

• Be included on the NHS England GP Performers List (or equivalent UK Performers List where applicable).

• Have completed GP Specialty Training (CCT or equivalent).

• Have recent experience working within General Practice, Primary Care, Urgent Care or Prison Healthcare.

• Demonstrate excellent clinical judgement and the ability to manage complex patients autonomously.

• Have strong communication, risk assessment and multidisciplinary working skills.

• Be committed to delivering high-quality care within a secure and challenging environment.

• Be familiar with electronic patient record systems.

• Hold appropriate medical indemnity.

• Meet all required compliance standards, including enhanced security clearance where required.

• Have the right to work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship).
