Can you combine structured foundational teaching in phonics and numeracy with an engaging, nurturing classroom environment?

Are you looking for a secure, full-time, long-term placement for the upcoming academic year within a supportive school environment?

We are seeking a talent-driven Qualified Key Stage 1 Teacher (QTS) for a long-term position starting September 2026 at a welcoming Primary School in Hemel Hempstead. Focusing specifically on Year 1 or Year 2 pupils, this role involves delivering early primary education in a modern, resource-rich setting. We want an educator who can build strong foundational skills, manage active classrooms with patience, and spark enthusiasm for learning during these critical early years.

Core Responsibilities
  • KS1 Curriculum Delivery: Plan and teach tailored, high-impact lessons that align directly with Key Stage 1 National Curriculum objectives.
  • Early Literacy & Numeracy Focus: Utilise effective phonics schemes (such as Little Wandle or Read Write Inc.) and early math concepts to build core competencies.
  • Classroom Team Guidance: Work side-by-side with early years and KS1 Teaching Assistants to maintain a safe, inclusive, and productive learning space.
  • Progress & Milestone Tracking: Assess, record, and track young learners' academic and social progress using early primary assessment frameworks.
  • Targeted Support: Liaise with the school SENCO and key stage leaders to ensure children with SEND or EAL receive appropriate intervention.
  • Parental Partnerships: Maintain supportive, approachable communication with parents to ensure a smooth home-to-school transition for pupils.

Candidate Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. Proven experience teaching within a Key Stage 1 environment (suitable for both ECTs and experienced teachers).
  • Early Years & KS1 Expertise: Strong knowledge of early childhood development, phonics frameworks, and positive behaviour reinforcement strategies.
  • Patience & Energy: A calm, proactive, and dynamic approach capable of managing early primary classroom dynamics smoothly.
  • Collaborative Spirit: A genuine desire to work closely with year-group colleagues to deliver a cohesive learning experience.
  • Compliance Checks: An Enhanced Child DBS registered on the Update Service (or readiness to complete a new application through Randstad).

Benefits of Partnering with Randstad
  • Competitive Pay: £141 - £163 per day
  • September 2026 Ready: Secure your primary autumn term placement early at a well-regarded local Hemel Hempstead school.
