Job summary

The Motor Transport (MT) Details Clerk plays a vital role within the Motor Transport department, reporting directly to the Motor Transport Officer (MTO). The primary responsibility of the MT Details Clerk is the efficient coordination and management of daily transport tasks, ensuring compliance with JSP 800 Vol 5, DSA 03, MT Standing Orders, and other relevant policies and transport regulations.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

As a key member of the MT department, the MT Details Clerk contributes to the smooth operation of the Academy Support Unit (ASU). The ASU’s primary mission is to provide essential support to the Defence Intelligence Academy (DefIntAc) and the wider Chicksands site, ensuring the effective delivery of training and operational outputs.

The role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. The MT Details Clerk is expected to liaise with various stakeholders, ensuring that transport requirements are met efficiently and in line with established procedures. This includes scheduling and allocating vehicles, coordinating drivers, and maintaining accurate records of all transport activities.

The MT Details Clerk is also responsible for ensuring that all transport operations are conducted safely and in compliance with Defence regulations. This includes maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant policies and ensuring that all documentation is accurate and complete.

Person specification

Essential:

• A good level of IT skills & experience (MS Office, Excel and Word)
• UK Driving Licence Cat B

Desirable:

• Clarity & JAMES user training.
• Previous MT knowledge and experience.
• Defence Transport Operator (DTO).

The post does not offer relocation expenses.
