About the role
Location: Sutton-in-Ashfield
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £30,000 per annum
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (1-hour lunch)
Probation: 6 months
We're looking for a reliable and technically minded Workshop Engineer with an electrical background to join a busy workshop environment. This is a practical, hands-on role involving the assembly, wiring, testing, maintenance and preparation of specialist equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, wire and prepare specialist equipment.
- Prepare, route and terminate cables.
- Carry out continuity, RCD and system testing.
- Fault find and carry out basic repairs where appropriate.
- Charge, inspect and maintain batteries.
- Complete testing, inspection and checklist documentation.
- Inspect and maintain returned/decommissioned equipment.
- Monitor stock and collect materials from a local site when required.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop.
- Follow all health & safety procedures and use the correct PPE.
About You
- Previous electrical, electrical engineering or workshop experience.
- Practical wiring, cable preparation and termination experience.
- Understanding of electrical testing, including continuity and RCD testing.
- Good fault-finding, problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Able to follow technical instructions and safe working procedures.
- Practical, organised and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically capable of manual handling duties.
- Driving licence desirable for occasional local stock collections.
Relevant electrical qualifications and experience with batteries, solar systems, equipment maintenance or refurbishment would be advantageous.
