Job description
Join the Low Carbon Fuels Directorate at the forefront of transport decarbonisation, helping deliver policies that support the UK’s climate change ambitions. As PMO Manager, you will play a key role in the effective operation of the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Mandate schemes. Working across a complex stakeholder environment, you will provide PMO leadership, support regulatory delivery, and contribute directly to a greener, more sustainable transport system.
Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
- PMO Leadership and Governance.
- Commercial and Contract Oversight.
- Certificate application review.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration.

Person specification
To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:
- Strong experience of contributing to, or delivering, PMO functions, including governance, financial oversight, contract oversight, and audit readiness.
- Some experience of operational delivery. Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality outputs to agreed deadlines.
- Ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders, building constructive and collaborative relationships.
- Experience of preparing written materials with strong drafting skills. The ability to interpret and clearly present complex information to senior audiences.
- An interest in, or knowledge of, environmental and energy policy areas, such as climate change, renewable fuels, SAF, or wider decarbonisation initiatives.
Additional Information
The successful candidate must either hold or be willing to work towards the Government Project Delivery Accreditation once in role
You will be required to undertake the Foundation e-learning module of the Contract Management Capability programme once in role, unless this accreditation is already held.
Working hours, office attendance and travel requirements
Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week.
Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 30 hours per week.
This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non-contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements.
The expectation at present is a minimum of 60% of your working time a month will be spent at either your designated workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, in another office/work location/visiting stakeholders. Your designated workplace will be your contractual place of work. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.
Occasional travel to other offices will be required, which may involve overnight stays.
