King Edward VII School is seeking to appoint an exceptional, experienced Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Key Stage 4 to join the School’s Leadership Team. This is a strategically significant post and the successful candidate will display outstanding leadership skills and knowledge to support the best outcomes for students in the School. This role is central to realising the ambitious long-term plans for the School.

Working and reporting directly to the Headteacher, you will be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership on all aspects of the School, including:

  • Sharing fully in the strategic leadership of the School

  • Leading on the strategic development of Key Stage 4

  • Having the proven ability to lead and inspire staff and students

  • Having a successful track record of the management of change

  • Being dynamic and dedicated, bringing vision, creativity, flexibility and enthusiasm to the role

  • Having a passionate commitment to ensuring a high-quality education for all

  • Having the determination and ambition to develop his or her career in and beyond this post

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold an appropriate qualification

  • Be highly self-motivated with a strong work ethic

  • Have a confident and professional manner

  • Have excellent interpersonal skills

The successful candidate will be required to complete Disclosure and Barring Service declarations in line with Section 115 of the Police Act 1997. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the successful applicant will be required to apply for an enhanced DBS certificate. As the post will involve regulated activity with children, it is a criminal offence to apply for this post if you are included on the children’s barred list held by the DBS.

Amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975 (2013 & 2020) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are “protected”. These are not subject to the disclosure to employers and cannot be taken into account.
