Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Social Worker

Location: Cardiff Bay Police Station
Working Environment: Office-based, co-located with partner agencies

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced MASH Social Worker to join a fast-paced, multi-agency safeguarding team based at Cardiff Bay Police Station.

You will be responsible for the timely assessment of contacts and referrals, identifying children and families who may be at risk and ensuring appropriate safeguarding action is taken.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess incoming contacts and referrals to the MASH and identify levels of risk.
• Undertake timely safeguarding assessments and determine appropriate next steps.
• Gather and share information with Police and other partner agencies.
• Participate in multi-agency strategy discussions to support safeguarding decision-making.
• Identify children at risk and ensure appropriate safeguarding actions are initiated.
• Manage a constantly changing workload while maintaining a high standard of professional decision-making.
• Work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure effective information sharing and risk management.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience working as a Children’s Social Worker, ideally within MASH, duty or a front-door safeguarding service.
• Strong knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
• Experience assessing risk and making timely professional decisions.
• Experience working effectively with multi-agency partners.
• The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication, assessment and decision-making skills.

Please note: This is a non-case-holding role, focused on the assessment and triage of new safeguarding contacts and referrals rather than ongoing case management.
