About the role

What will you be doing?

Help shape the future of local government in Kent & Medway

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in one of the most significant changes to local government in Kent for a generation.

The Kent & Medway Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) Programme is supporting the development and delivery of proposals and transition arrangements that will help shape the future of local government across Kent.

As a LGR Programme Support Officer, you will provide essential programme, governance and administrative support to a high-profile programme working with senior officers, elected members, local authority partners, government departments and other stakeholders.

About the Role

Working as part of a dynamic programme team, you will help coordinate programme activities, support governance arrangements, organise meetings and stakeholder engagement activities, and contribute to programme reporting and decision-making processes.

This is an exciting time to join us and contribute to work that will have a lasting impact on public services and local government across Kent.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Experience supporting projects, programmes or corporate initiatives.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting reports and correspondence.
  • Confidence working with senior officers, elected members and partner organisations.
  • Experience coordinating meetings, events and governance activity.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and the ability to produce clear, professional documentation.
  • An interest in local government, public policy and supporting major programmes of change.

Why Join the Kent & Medway LGR Programme?

  • Be at the heart of once‑in‑a‑generation public sector change
  • Work with talented colleagues from across Kent & Medway in a genuinely collaborative environment
  • Gain exposure to senior decision‑making and complex system leadership
  • Develop your career through a highly visible, strategically important role
  • Make a real difference to how services are delivered to residents for years to come

Our shared Kent and Medway values

We are one team, working openly and collaboratively across Kent & Medway. We are caring, respectful and people‑centred, open and accountable, curious and ambitious, and proud of the difference we are making together.
