Could you be the person who helps a child realise what they’re capable of?

Milk Education is looking for a motivated and inspiring Learning Mentor to join a welcoming Primary School in Durham.

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, motivating young people and helping children overcome barriers to learning.

You don’t necessarily need to have worked as a Teaching Assistant before. If you’ve got experience in mentoring, coaching, youth work, childcare, community work, tutoring or supporting young people, your skills could be a fantastic fit.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Building positive relationships with pupils.
• Helping children set achievable learning and personal goals.
• Supporting pupils with confidence, motivation and resilience.
• Encouraging engagement with classroom learning.
• Providing 1:1 and small-group mentoring.
• Celebrating progress and achievements.
• Working alongside teachers and school staff.
• Helping pupils develop independence and positive learning habits.

We’re Looking For Someone Who Is…

• Naturally positive, encouraging and approachable.
• Confident communicating with children.
• Patient and able to build trust.
• Passionate about helping young people succeed.
• Experienced in mentoring, coaching, youth work, childcare, tutoring or education — desirable.
• A graduate, aspiring teacher or someone with relevant volunteering/placement experience.
• Reliable and ready to make a genuine difference.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
