Could you be the person who helps a child realise what they’re capable of?
Milk Education is looking for a motivated and inspiring Learning Mentor to join a welcoming Primary School in Durham.
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, motivating young people and helping children overcome barriers to learning.
You don’t necessarily need to have worked as a Teaching Assistant before. If you’ve got experience in mentoring, coaching, youth work, childcare, community work, tutoring or supporting young people, your skills could be a fantastic fit.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Building positive relationships with pupils.
- Helping children set achievable learning and personal goals.
- Supporting pupils with confidence, motivation and resilience.
- Encouraging engagement with classroom learning.
- Providing 1:1 and small-group mentoring.
- Celebrating progress and achievements.
- Working alongside teachers and school staff.
- Helping pupils develop independence and positive learning habits.
We’re Looking For Someone Who Is…
- Naturally positive, encouraging and approachable.
- Confident communicating with children.
- Patient and able to build trust.
- Passionate about helping young people succeed.
- Experienced in mentoring, coaching, youth work, childcare, tutoring or education — desirable.
- A graduate, aspiring teacher or someone with relevant volunteering/placement experience.
- Reliable and ready to make a genuine difference.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
