We’re currently recruiting for a Music Graduate Teaching Assistant to join supportive primary and secondary schools across Leeds on a long or short-term basis, with flexible start dates available.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Music graduate looking to gain valuable classroom experience while using their creativity, confidence and communication skills to engage and inspire young people. Whether you’re considering a career in teaching, music education, SEN support, youth work or another education-based profession, this role provides an excellent first step.

You’ll be joining a supportive school that values creativity, inclusion and pupil wellbeing, giving you the opportunity to use your musical background to help pupils develop confidence, communication and a love of learning.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils one-to-one and in small groups across the classroom
  • Using music, rhythm and creative activities to engage pupils in learning
  • Supporting pupils with their academic, social and emotional development
  • Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities
  • Helping deliver interventions and catch-up sessions where required
  • Supporting pupils with SEND, including ASD, ADHD and SEMH
  • Encouraging confidence, communication, self-expression and positive relationships
  • Building strong and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Promoting positive behaviour and maintaining an inclusive classroom environment

Requirements or Skills:

  • A degree in Music, Music Performance, Music Production or a related subject
  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential
  • A genuine passion for education and supporting young people
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Creative, enthusiastic and confident when working with groups
  • Patient, adaptable and able to build positive relationships
  • Comfortable taking direction from teachers and working as part of a wider school team

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
