About the KS1 Teaching Assistant Role
We are recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic KS1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive infant school in Great Barr, Birmingham.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience working with children who is passionate about supporting early education in Key Stage 1 (KS1). You will play a key role in helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning.

Key Responsibilities
As a KS1 Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support teaching and learning in KS1 classrooms (Year 1 and Year 2)
- Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning activities
- Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom organisation
- Support children with additional learning or emotional needs
- Help maintain a positive and well-managed classroom environment
- Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and independence
- Contribute to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing at all times
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a committed and caring individual who can support children’s learning and development.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working with children (school, nursery, childcare, or similar setting)
- A positive, patient, and supportive approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine interest in supporting primary-aged children
Desirable (but not essential):
- Childcare qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 in Childcare or Supporting Teaching and Learning)
- Previous experience in a KS1 or primary school environment
- Understanding of phonics, early literacy, or numeracy support
