About the role

Morson Edge is delighted to be supporting a Global Business in finding an HR Generalist to provide practical, responsive HR guidance and support to employees, supervisors and managers across a multi-site operational environment in the UK. This is a contract opportunity with an initial term of 6 months. 

The role will act as a key HR contact for site leadership, supporting day-to-day people matters while also contributing to wider HR programmes, employee engagement activity and continuous improvement initiatives.

A significant part of the position will involve supporting annual HR processes, including pay reviews, performance management, talent planning, employee engagement activity and learning and development. The role will also help managers and employees access HR services and make effective use of HR systems and self-service resources.

The position primarily supports operational activities across the UK, with responsibility for a workforce of approximately 200 employees plus the wider business population.

Location coverage: up to 9 operational sites, including Wigan, Goole, Daventry, Cannock, Lichfield and Sittingbourne throughout the West Midlands and North West England. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted HR partner to site leaders and operational management teams across the UK network.
  • Provide practical advice and guidance to managers on HR policies, procedures and people-related matters.
  • Coach managers to confidently handle day-to-day employee issues and make effective use of HR self-service processes and systems.
  • Support managers with employee relations, performance, attendance, conduct and other people matters.
  • Work with operational leadership to develop and deliver effective employee engagement plans and initiatives.
  • Support the introduction and implementation of wider HR programmes, including improvements to HR technology, employee experience, recruitment and employee feedback.
  • Contribute to initiatives designed to improve inclusion, representation and diversity across operational teams.
  • Work collaboratively with HR colleagues across the UK and wider European organisation to share best practice and deliver continuous improvement.
  • Partner with HR operations teams on process improvements and the effective delivery of HR services.
  • Support recruitment activity, working with talent acquisition colleagues to ensure vacancies are filled efficiently with high-quality candidates.
  • Improve and support new starter onboarding, training and compliance processes.
  • Provide guidance and support during annual HR cycles, including performance reviews, salary reviews, talent and succession planning, and employee engagement surveys.
  • Work with specialist HR teams to support reward, learning, development and talent initiatives.
  • Produce relevant HR information and reports to support local management discussions and decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate employee and personnel records.
  • Monitor completion of mandatory learning and support managers in addressing outstanding requirements.
  • Support organisational change programmes and help managers communicate and implement change effectively.
  • Provide generalist HR support across the full employee lifecycle within a fast-paced operational/manufacturing environment.
  • Work effectively within a matrix structure and build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Provide sound, commercially aware HR guidance to help managers make effective people and business decisions.
  • Support HR projects and initiatives, including delivery within agreed budgets where applicable.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Professional HR qualification or equivalent practical HR experience.with demonstrable experience working in a generalist role. 
  • Experience working within an operational, fast-paced environment would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of HR policies, procedures and employment practices.
  • Experience advising and coaching line managers on employee-related matters.
  • Experience supporting employee relations and/or labour relations activity.
  • Experience contributing to organisational change and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding and employee development.
  • Comfortable working with HR systems and digital self-service platforms; experience with Workday or a comparable HRIS would be beneficial.
  • Experience producing and interpreting HR reports and information.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work with employees and managers at all levels.
  • Coaching and change-management capability would be advantageous.
