Job Title: CNC Metalworking Specialist

Job Type: Temporary - Ongoing

Location: Larne, BT40 1EJ

Standard Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Thursday)

Pay Rates:

Day Shift Rate: £16.75 per hour

Night Shift Rate: £22.33 per hour (Includes Shift Allowance)

Overtime Rate 1 (First 10 Hours): £25.13 per hour

Overtime Rate 2 (After 10 Hours): £33.50 per hour

Shifts:

  • Day Shift: Monday 07:00 - 17:15 | Tuesday - Thursday 07:00 - 16:45
  • Night Shift: Monday 21:00 - 07:15 | Tuesday - Thursday 21:00 - 06:45

(Must be flexible to work both Days and Nights)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC metalworking machines (laser cutters, punch presses, bending/forming presses) using encoded instructions to fabricate steel plate components.
  • Perform sheet metal operations including forming, laser cutting, counter-boring, reaming, tapping, punching, and folding.
  • Interpret machining programs, tool layouts, encoded instructions, and engineering prints; adjust offsets and override functions when necessary.
  • Perform manual operations for rework or missed operations as required.
  • Conduct self-inspections of finished parts against technical drawings to ensure strict quality standards.
  • Maintain high safety standards, comply with 5S lean initiatives, and demonstrate Caterpillar's core values in action.
  • Assist in training team members and carry out operational duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, tool layouts, and machining programs.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and ability to follow detailed, technical work instructions.
  • Comfort working at heights and within confined spaces.
  • Flexibility to work various shift patterns and undertake overtime as needed.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a lean manufacturing or 5S environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize work sequences efficiently.
  • Basic computer literacy.
