About the role

Secondary Art Teacher - King's Lynn & Surrounding Areas

Are you a passionate Art & Design specialist looking for a teaching role that offers genuine flexibility, competitive pay, and strong creative freedom? Whether you are drawn to the total autonomy and variety of day-to-day supply cover or searching for the stability and connection of a long-term departmental placement, we have fantastic opportunities tailored directly to your schedule.

We are currently partnering with a welcoming network of secondary schools, academies, and high schools in King's Lynn and across the surrounding West Norfolk area. We are experiencing high demand for creative, enthusiastic Art Teachers who can deliver engaging, hands-on lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with Key Stage 5 opportunities available for candidates looking for Fine Art, Graphic Communication, or Photography A-Level teaching).

Whether you are an experienced Art Teacher seeking a better work-life balance, or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) eager to gain valuable experience across different school studio environments, we can help you find your ideal role.

Choose Your Ideal Way of Working:
  • Day-to-Day Cover: Enjoy total control over your diary. Simply select the specific days you wish to work to suit your lifestyle, family commitments, or personal artistic projects. It is a brilliant way to teach your subject across different local secondary schools.

  • Long-Term Opportunities: If you prefer consistency, we offer fixed-term placements spanning a term or a full academic year (covering maternity, sickness, or vacant posts). This allows you to integrate fully into an Art department, manage studio spaces, guide students through GCSE portfolios, and inspire creative expression over time.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver inspiring, well-structured Art & Design lessons across KS3 and KS4, covering diverse mediums such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and digital design.

  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and creative classroom environment where students feel confident experimenting with techniques and developing their artistic voice.

  • Maintain organised studio spaces and ensure health and safety protocols are strictly followed when using materials and equipment.

  • Apply effective classroom management strategies in line with individual school policies.

  • For long-term roles: take ownership of lesson planning, ongoing portfolio assessment, preparing students for GCSE exams/moderations, and organising student art exhibitions.

What We Look For:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or a recognised equivalent secondary teaching qualification specialising in Art & Design.

  • Strong subject knowledge across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 Art, with a broad practical skill set across multiple artistic disciplines.

  • Confident classroom management skills and the ability to inspire creative thinking in young people.

  • An adaptable, proactive mindset, ready to hit the ground running in different secondary studio settings.

  • A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete one).

Benefits of Working With Us:
  • Competitive rates of pay, processed weekly and reflective of your experience and subject expertise.

  • A dedicated local consultant with deep knowledge of the secondary education sector in King's Lynn and West Norfolk.

  • A transparent service that works strictly around your declared availability.

  • Excellent networking opportunities across local secondary schools, which frequently lead to direct, permanent contracts.
