Dispensing Optician - Henley-on-Thames

The Role

As a Dispensing Optician, you will play an important role in providing an outstanding patient experience, using your professional expertise to recommend the most appropriate frames and lenses to meet each patient's visual, lifestyle, and individual requirements.

You will work closely with the experienced Optometry team to ensure a seamless journey from eye examination through to dispensing and collection, while developing strong and lasting relationships with patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional, personalised customer service throughout the dispensing journey

• Work closely with Optometrists to ensure a seamless handover following the eye examination

• Provide expert advice on frames, lenses, and optical solutions

• Conduct detailed style consultations to help patients find eyewear that suits their individual appearance and lifestyle

• Recommend appropriate lenses based on prescription, visual requirements, lifestyle, and budget

• Take accurate dispensing measurements and ensure all orders are completed correctly

• Carry out spectacle fittings, adjustments, and minor repairs

• Complete quality checks on finished spectacles to ensure excellent fit, comfort, and visual performance

• Manage spectacle orders and liaise with suppliers where required

• Maintain accurate patient records and complete relevant administrative duties

• Build strong, long-term relationships with patients and provide a genuinely personalised service

• Maintain excellent product knowledge across frames, lenses, and the latest developments in optical technology

• Support the wider team in maintaining a welcoming, professional, and high-quality practice environment

• Ensure all professional standards, regulatory requirements, and CPD obligations are maintained

About You

• Qualified Dispensing Optician

• Registered with the General Optical Council (GOC)

• Passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and customer service

• Confident providing professional dispensing and style advice

• Excellent knowledge of frames, lenses, measurements, and dispensing techniques

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Friendly, approachable, and confident when building relationships with patients

• High level of attention to detail and accuracy

• Professional and enthusiastic with a genuine passion for optics

• Comfortable working within an independent practice where personalised service is paramount

• Commercially aware while always putting the patient's needs first

• A collaborative team player who enjoys working within a friendly and supportive environment

• Keen to continue developing your professional knowledge and skills
