The Opportunity
An established and growing specialist family law firm is looking for an experienced and ambitious Family Solicitor or Legal Executive to establish and lead a new office in an agreed location.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded family lawyer to take ownership of building a local practice, developing a referral network and, over time, recruiting and leading a team.
Candidates with 8+ years’ family law experience are preferred, although applications from candidates with less experience will be considered where they can demonstrate the required technical ability, commercial awareness, leadership and business development skills.

- Financial remedy
- Divorce and separation
- Cohabitation disputes
- Pre- and post-nuptial agreements
- Separation agreements
- Protective injunctions
- TOLATA matters would be advantageous
Alongside fee-earning, you will be responsible for:
- Developing the new office and local client base
- Building relationships with referrers and professional contacts
- Networking and business development
- Managing files, billing and financial performance
- Recruiting and developing a local team as the office grows
- Maintaining high standards of client care and regulatory compliance
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider firm
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Significant experience in private family law
- Strong experience across children and financial remedy work
- A strong billing history and commercial awareness
- Excellent client-care and communication skills
- Strong drafting and negotiation abilities
- The ability to manage a complex caseload with minimal supervision
- Leadership and team-development experience or potential
- An established professional network and/or strong business development skills
- The ambition to build a sustainable local practice
Candidates must hold the appropriate practising rights and regulatory authorisation for the role.
What’s on Offer?
- Opportunity to establish and lead a new office
- Competitive salary
- Full-time also open to discussion around part-time working if required
- Flexible working arrangements
- Potential homeworking days where appropriate
- Administrative, compliance and operational support
- Central marketing and business development support
- Support from experienced colleagues across the wider firm
- Genuine long-term career progression
- Potential discretionary bonus opportunities
- Birthday day off
- Christmas office closure
- Additional annual leave with length of service
- Workplace pension
- Death-in-service cover
- Health cash plan and 24-hour remote doctor
- Staff and family social events
This is a genuine opportunity to build something of your own within an established specialist family law firm, with the support and infrastructure already in place to help develop the office and local client base.
