TSR Legal are currently seeking an experienced Costs Lawyer to join a highly regarded and growing legal team, working on a broad and varied caseload of complex costs matters.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident costs professional who is looking to develop their career within a specialist environment, working alongside experienced solicitors and legal professionals on high-value and challenging cases.

The Role

As a Costs Lawyer, you will be responsible for managing a varied caseload and providing specialist costs advice throughout the lifecycle of litigation.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and advising on detailed costs budgets and statements of costs.
• Drafting Points of Dispute, Replies and other costs-related documentation.
• Conducting detailed assessment proceedings and costs negotiations.
• Advising fee earners and clients on costs strategy and recovery.
• Preparing for and attending costs and detailed assessment hearings.
• Dealing with costs issues arising from complex and high-value litigation.
• Negotiating costs with opponents and working towards settlement where appropriate.
• Managing your own caseload and ensuring matters progress efficiently.
• Keeping up to date with developments in costs law, procedure and relevant case law.
• Working collaboratively with solicitors, paralegals and other members of the wider legal team.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

• Strong experience in contentious legal costs.
• Experience of drafting Points of Dispute and Replies.
• Experience dealing with costs budgets.
• Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to manage a busy caseload and work to deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and a commercial approach to costs matters.
• The confidence to provide clear, practical advice to both lawyers and clients.
