Bar and Restaurant Manager

Location: Ross-shire
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Bar & Restaurant Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of a busy food and beverage venue. The venue also has 10 rooms. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, managing a high-performing team, driving sales, and ensuring the smooth and profitable running of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

• Manage the daily operation of the bar and restaurant, ensuring excellent service standards at all times.
• Oversee opening and closing procedures.
• Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety regulations, and food hygiene standards.
• Monitor stock levels and coordinate ordering of food, beverages, and supplies.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the venue.

Team Leadership

• Recruit, train, develop, and motivate front-of-house staff.
• Create staff rotas to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching where required.
• Foster a positive team culture and lead by example.

Customer Service

• Deliver an exceptional customer experience and resolve customer concerns professionally.
• Build strong relationships with customers to encourage repeat business.
• Ensure service standards consistently meet or exceed expectations.

Financial Management

• Manage budgets, control costs, and maximise profitability.
• Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities to increase revenue.
• Oversee cash handling procedures and end-of-day reconciliations.
• Analyse business performance and prepare management reports.

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure adherence to food safety, health and safety, and licensing requirements.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and maintain accurate records.
• Ensure all team members are trained in relevant compliance procedures.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

• Previous experience in a Bar Manager, Restaurant Manager, Assistant Manager, or similar hospitality management role.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
• Experience managing budgets, stock control, and labour costs.
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
• Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Desirable

• Food Safety Certificate.
• First Aid qualification.
• Experience using hospitality EPOS and booking systems.
