About the role

System Engineer (Electrical & Electronics)
County Durham
Salary up to £55k basic + 10% bonus

We are looking for a Systems Engineer with a strong Electrical/Electronics background to support the design, development and validation of advanced technology products (high precision). The role involves system architecture definition, integration, testing and continuous product improvement within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Design

  • Define and document complex system architectures and frameworks.
  • Design and analyse electrical and electronic systems.
  • Develop communication interfaces, cabling solutions and system integrations.
  • Characterise and integrate new components into existing platforms.

Verification & Validation

  • Prepare requirements and verification documentation.
  • Plan and execute validation and testing activities.
  • Identify, analyse and resolve system design issues.
  • Support prototype builds and system optimisation activities.

Product Development

  • Influence future product architecture and technology roadmaps.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and certification requirements.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary design reviews.
  • Manage specialist third-party engineering services when required.

Production Support

  • Develop calibration and alignment processes.
  • Produce characterisation and test plans.
  • Support knowledge transfer into manufacturing.
  • Train production and technical support teams.

Skills & Experience

  • Degree qualified in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years' experience within Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
  • Systems Engineering experience within complex products or equipment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical system architecture and integration.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
