Lead Engineer (Telecoms / UC)

Location: Hybrid – Derby, Manchester or Warrington
Salary: £63,600 - £83,500 + Bonus & Excellent Benefits

Are you an experienced Telecoms, Unified Communications or ICT Engineer looking to work on one of the UK’s most technically advanced engineering programmes?

We’re recruiting for a Lead Engineer (Telecoms / UC) to join a growing engineering team delivering critical communication and information systems within a highly regulated environment. This is an opportunity to lead the design and delivery of resilient telecoms and network infrastructure supporting complex, safety-critical operations.

The Role

You’ll provide technical leadership across the full lifecycle of telecoms and ICT systems, including:

• Telephony (analogue, digital, SIP & Unified Communications)
• Radio and broadcast communications
• Enterprise data networks (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN/SDN)
• Secure network architecture and cyber resilience

Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, security specialists and suppliers, you’ll develop robust system architectures, oversee technical delivery, ensure compliance with industry standards and support system integration through to commissioning.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll ideally have experience designing and delivering telecoms or ICT systems within highly regulated sectors such as Nuclear, Defence, Aerospace or Critical Infrastructure.

You’ll bring experience in:

• Telecoms, Unified Communications and IP telephony
• Radio communications (TETRA, DMR, P25 or LTE/MCX desirable)
• Enterprise networking (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN/SDN)
• Network security and cyber resilience
• System architecture, specification, testing and commissioning
• IEC 62443 or similar cyber security standards
• Technical leadership, supplier management and stakeholder engagement
