About the role

Role Overview

We are seeking a digitally-enabled Project Management / PMO Lead to support complex, mission-critical programmes. This role goes beyond traditional cost engineering, focusing on data-driven decision making, integrated digital controls, and advanced analytics across major capital projects.

You will play a key role in building intelligent cost and risk insights, leveraging modern project controls tools, data integration, and visualisation platforms to enhance programme performance, predictability, and governance.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Cost & Performance Management

  • Develop and manage digitally integrated cost baselines aligned to WBS/CBS structures across complex programmes
  • Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) using modern toolsets and automated data flows to track performance in near real time
  • Produce Forecast at Completion (FAC) using data-led forecasting techniques and scenario modelling

Data & Analytics

  • Design and maintain project controls dashboards and visualisations (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) to provide cost, schedule, and risk insight
  • Enable data integration across systems (e.g. Primavera P6, ERP, cost management tools) to establish a single source of truth
  • Support the development of predictive analytics models for cost forecasting and programme performance

Change & Cost Control

  • Manage digital change control workflows, ensuring traceability across time, cost, and scope
  • Implement robust cost control processes, including accruals management, commitments tracking, and variance analysis
  • Maintain structured, auditable datasets to support governance in regulated environments

Integrated Project Controls

  • Align cost engineering with schedule and risk data to deliver integrated project controls capability
  • Collaborate with planning and risk teams to support quantitative risk analysis (QRA) and scenario modelling
  • Support programme reporting through automated reporting tools and digital controls frameworks

Governance & Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with regulated, safety-critical standards
  • Support internal and external audits through structured, high-quality data and reporting
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of digital project controls maturity

Candidate Profile

Essential Experience

  • 8-12 years' experience in project controls or cost engineering on major programmes
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Earned Value Management (EVM)
    • CBS/WBS integration
    • Forecast at Completion (FAC)
    • Accruals and cost reporting
    • Change and cost control frameworks
  • Experience working in highly regulated or safety-critical environments (e.g. nuclear, defence, infrastructure)

Digital & Technical Skills

  • Experience with project controls and cost tools, such as:
    • Primavera P6 and associated planning systems
    • ERP and cost management platforms (e.g. EcoSys, SAP, Oracle)
  • Strong capability in data analysis and visualisation (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)
  • Understanding of data integration and working with structured datasets
  • Exposure to automation, scripting, or digital transformation initiatives is desirable

Desirable

  • Experience in quantitative risk analysis (QSRA/QCRA)
  • Familiarity with digital engineering or BIM environments
  • Security clearance, or eligibility to obtain it

What Makes This Role Different

  • Focus on digital-first project controls rather than traditional cost engineering alone
  • Opportunity to work on nationally significant, mission-critical programmes
  • Involvement in building next-generation project controls capability, including automation, analytics, and integrated data environments

Success in Role

Success in this role will depend on your ability to:

  • Translate complex cost data into clear, actionable insight
  • Improve predictability through analytics and integrated data
  • Operate effectively in a high-governance, high-stakes environment
  • Drive continuous improvement through digital innovation
