About the role
Senior Electrical Engineer
Our client, a leader in the engineering sector, is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their team. This permanent role focuses on electrical engineering within the distribution, transmission, renewables, and T&D industries.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Design
- Perform and manage the development of electrical EPC and ICP system designs from preliminary to detailed status
- Conduct steady state, dynamic and grid code compliance studies
- Select appropriate electrical components, equipment, and materials
- Ensure compliance with engineering design packages
- Align electrical and civil design interfaces
- Resolve complex technical design issues and act as a primary electrical design authority
Leadership
- Manage and support in-house electrical design resources and external contractors
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance
- Review and approve electrical design outputs
- Support training and development of team members
Commercial, Tendering & Procurement Support
- Provide technical input during tendering to develop preliminary electrical designs
- Support the development of tender pricing
- Define key equipment specifications with the Procurement Department
- Prepare scopes of work for subcontractors/vendors and support tender evaluation
Job Requirements:
- Experience in ICP, electrical engineering, electrical design, and electrical
- Knowledge of UK Grid Code, network operator standards, and applicable UK design standards and regulations
- Proficiency with electrical system modelling software (DigSilent, PSCAD) and CAD software
- Understanding of MS Project, Excel, and Word
- Ability to manage and resolve complex electrical design issues
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Full driving licence
