About the role

Senior Electrical Engineer


Our client, a leader in the engineering sector, is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their team. This permanent role focuses on electrical engineering within the distribution, transmission, renewables, and T&D industries.

Key Responsibilities:


Electrical Design

  • Perform and manage the development of electrical EPC and ICP system designs from preliminary to detailed status
  • Conduct steady state, dynamic and grid code compliance studies
  • Select appropriate electrical components, equipment, and materials
  • Ensure compliance with engineering design packages
  • Align electrical and civil design interfaces
  • Resolve complex technical design issues and act as a primary electrical design authority


Leadership

  • Manage and support in-house electrical design resources and external contractors
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance
  • Review and approve electrical design outputs
  • Support training and development of team members


Commercial, Tendering & Procurement Support

  • Provide technical input during tendering to develop preliminary electrical designs
  • Support the development of tender pricing
  • Define key equipment specifications with the Procurement Department
  • Prepare scopes of work for subcontractors/vendors and support tender evaluation

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in ICP, electrical engineering, electrical design, and electrical
  • Knowledge of UK Grid Code, network operator standards, and applicable UK design standards and regulations
  • Proficiency with electrical system modelling software (DigSilent, PSCAD) and CAD software
  • Understanding of MS Project, Excel, and Word
  • Ability to manage and resolve complex electrical design issues
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Full driving licence
