This is a pivotal leadership role at the heart of that transformation. Reporting to the Corporate Director of Resources and working as a key member of the Corporate Leadership Team, you will shape the future of a large, complex organisation, ensuring technology, data and innovation are key enablers of organisational transformation and excellent public service delivery.
The Role
As Director of Digital, Data and Technology, you will provide strategic leadership across the council's digital, data and technology functions, driving innovation and enabling transformation across the organisation.
You will lead the development and delivery of the council's Digital, Data and Technology Strategy, ensuring that digital services, systems, information and technology investment support the council's corporate priorities and long-term ambitions.
You will:
- Lead the strategic direction and delivery of the council's digital, data and technology transformation agenda.
- Drive innovation across services, using technology, data and digital solutions to improve resident outcomes and organisational efficiency.
- Champion the effective use of data, insight and emerging technologies to support evidence-based decision-making and continuous service improvement.
- Provide corporate leadership for cyber security, information governance, digital infrastructure, technology investment and service resilience.
- Build trusted relationships with Members, senior leaders, partners and stakeholders to deliver the council's strategic priorities.
- Develop a high-performing, inclusive and innovative Digital, Data and Technology service, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and modern ways of working.
- Promote and embed a One Council approach, ensuring digital solutions deliver value for money and support corporate priorities.
- Ensure residents remain at the heart of service design by improving accessibility, inclusion and the overall digital experience.
About You
We are looking for an inspiring, ambitious and forward-thinking leader with a proven track record of delivering complex digital transformation and organisational change.
You may come from local government, the wider public sector, a regulated industry, or another large and complex organisation. Above all, you will combine strategic vision with the ability to inspire people, lead through change and deliver measurable outcomes.
You will bring:
- Significant senior leadership experience across digital, data and technology services.
- A proven track record of delivering large-scale digital transformation and organisational change.
- Experience of developing and implementing digital and data strategies that deliver measurable organisational outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of technology governance, cyber security, information management and digital service delivery.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust at the most senior levels.
- The ability to operate confidently within a complex political environment, building effective relationships with Members, senior colleagues and external partners.
- Commercial awareness and experience of managing significant technology investment, contracts and supplier relationships.
- A passion for innovation, collaboration and improving public services for residents and communities.
