HGV Class 1 Driver

Role: HGV Class 1 Driver (C+E)

Location: Lewes

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 5:00pm, with overtime available

Pay: £17.25 per hour

Contract: Full-time, 12-week temporary to permanent

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an HGV Class 1 Driver (C+E) to join one of our longstanding clients, a well-established waste management and recycling business.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Class 1 Driver looking for a long-term position with the opportunity to secure a permanent role. Working Monday to Friday with regular overtime available, you’ll be responsible for the safe collection, transportation and delivery of materials while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.

The Requirements

• Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence
• Valid Driver CPC qualification
• Digital Tachograph Card
• Previous experience driving articulated and drawbar vehicles
• Bulk tipper and Roll-on Roll-off (RoRo) experience preferred
• Good understanding of load security and tipper operations
• Strong knowledge of driver hours and transport legislation
• High standards of vehicle care and safety compliance
• Reliable, professional and safety-conscious approach

The Role

• Operate HGV Class 1 articulated and drawbar vehicles safely and efficiently
• Carry out collections and deliveries across designated routes
• Operate bulk tipper and Roll-on Roll-off vehicles where required
• Ensure loads are secured safely and transported in line with legislation
• Complete daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly
• Maintain accurate driver and vehicle records
• Adhere to Driver CPC requirements and tachograph regulations
• Follow all company health and safety procedures
• Keep vehicles clean and well maintained
• Deliver excellent customer service when attending customer sites
• Support the wider transport operation as required
