Location: Ferndown, Dorset


Salary range: £35,000- £40,000 per annum



RCV Engines Ltd develops and manufactures engines for Uncrewed Vehicles utilising its own patented technology as well as other propulsion technologies. As part of our current expansion programme, we now have a vacancy for a specialist Turbine Specialist. About the role:


We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to create and generate conceptual and detailed designs to excellent engineering standards ensuring product functionality and performance. Work cross functionally across the business including production engineering and sales to assist in the development of existing and new product design specifications to meet customer needs and introduce to manufacture.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Produce and validate high quality mechanical engineering designs and associated drawings for production volume manufacturing (DFM).


  • Good understanding of engineering principles (i.e. tolerance analysis and material selection techniques) and data analysis.


  • Create designs in line with company standards, regulations, and customer requirements.


  • Assist with sustaining engineering tasks, NPD projects including presenting and reviewing design plans with the engineering and product line team.


  • Assist and take ownership to create and maintain technical/compliance documentation including accurate and cost-effective BoMs, service manuals, and technical instructions in line with established PLM system and procedures.


  • Strong problem-solving skills and CAD proficiency.


  • Work collaboratively as well as independently to undertake lab testing for verification and conformance of design outputs to meet the design inputs.


  • Work cross-functionally to perform engineering and design tasks using conventional analysis and computer simulation techniques.


  • Strong understanding of production and manufacturing techniques/practices.


  • Liaising internally and externally with the Sales Team / Customers / Suppliers and staff members on design specifications to see NPI & Improvement projects through to completion.


  • Provide support during prototype/product build and test process, ensuring design specifications are adhered too.


  • Report results of non-conformance and audits to the Line Manager to promote continuous improvement and problem solving.


  • Provide support for the in-house manufacturing and engine testing team in confirming engineering dimensions and tolerances. Involvement in problem solving process.


  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.


  • Promote a safe and secure working environment ensuring H&S procedures are adhered to and implemented.


  • Follow and comply with Company Quality Standards, Policies and Procedures to ensure that Site Standards, Product Integrity and Due Diligence are maintained.


  • To perform any other related duties and to work flexibly when required in order to meet the needs of the business.

About You


Qualifications:


Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or HNC & recognised Indentured Apprenticeship.

  • Experienced using Creo


  • Experienced using Microsoft office


  • Experienced using configuration control software


  • Strong attention to detail


  • Driven by consistent accuracy


  • Holds a strong desire to learn


  • A good mix of Academic and Practical ability
