About the role
Our client is currently seeking a Nuclear Cost Engineer to join their Business Management sub-function on a contract basis. Based in Reading, this role entails providing and delivering cost engineering capability in support of nuclear projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct full and detailed SPI, CPI variance analysis and subsequent root cause analysis, followed by provision of narrative, recommendations and recovery planning in accordance with monthly reporting timescales
- Establish the Project Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) and lead on the preparation of cost studies utilising historical data and developing benchmarking information to meet specific needs
- Provide trended data to the Project Manager based on performance to date and emerging trends including making recommendations
- Prepare, monitor and control forecasts and budgets for specified projects, including change control
- Interrogate systems and performance to ascertain actual expenditure and project accruals as needed
- Prepare cost reports, including trend analysis and early warnings where necessary
- Track manpower productivity and analyse time booked to projects including resource usage vs. planned, resource constraints, etc., and make any relevant recommendations to the Project Manager
- Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality, and be a great team player
Job Requirements:
- Experience in cost forecasting and management within the nuclear sector
- Strong understanding of SPI, CPI variance analysis and root cause analysis
- Ability to establish and manage a Project Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS)
- Proficiency in preparing and controlling project forecasts and budgets
- Expertise in preparing and interpreting cost reports including trend analysis and early warnings
- Capability to track and analyse manpower productivity and resource usage
- Strong commitment to maintaining high standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality
