Technical Lead - Secure Digital Platform (SDP) Data and Integration

Location: Reading (hybrid)

Duration: 6 month initial contract

Rate: £87ph UMB (Inside IR35)

Role details:

We are looking for a Technical Lead to join our defence client on a contract basis. Due to the nature of the role, we require candidates who hold an active SC clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing technical leadership across infrastructure, cloud platforms, cyber security, DevSecOps, data engineering, analytics, and platform services
• Establishing technical standards and governance
• Overseeing architecture and ensuring alignment with enterprise principles
• Maintaining platform security, resilience, scalability, and compliance
• Overseeing cloud, on-premises, and hybrid infrastructure environments
• Driving automation, Infrastructure as Code, DataOps, DevOps, and platform engineering best practices
• Leading technical decisions regarding Azure services, Kubernetes, OpenShift, data platforms, and security technologies
• Managing technical risks and dependencies across multiple projects

Job Requirements:

• Significant experience in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Strong technical expertise across cloud, infrastructure, security, and data technologies
• Extensive Microsoft Azure experience including governance, networking, identity, security, and platform services
• Experience with Kubernetes and OpenShift platform administration and architecture
• Strong knowledge of DevOps, DevSecOps, Platform Engineering, and Infrastructure as Code principles
• Experience implementing cyber security controls and secure engineering practices
• Knowledge of enterprise data platforms, data engineering, data governance, and analytics ecosystems
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Desirable Skills:

• Experience operating within defence, aerospace, or highly regulated environments
• Enterprise Architecture certification or experience
• Experience supporting classified or secure government environments
• Knowledge of Digital Twin, AI, and Machine Learning platforms
• Experience with multi-cloud environments
• FinOps and cloud cost optimisation experience
• Experience managing external suppliers and strategic technology partners
• Experience supporting large-scale transformation programmes
