About the role

Early Career Teacher (ECT) - Primary - Cambridge & Surrounding Areas

Are you an enthusiastic Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to kickstart your teaching career with maximum flexibility and real classroom support? Whether you want to explore different school environments through day-to-day supply before taking on your first full-time role, or you are looking to secure a long-term placement to complete your induction terms, we have fantastic opportunities tailored to your goals.

We are currently partnering with a group of primary schools, infant schools, and academies in Cambridge and across the surrounding South Cambridgeshire area. We are seeking ambitious, dedicated ECTs across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2 who are ready to gain invaluable experience, hone their classroom delivery, and make an impact in vibrant local schools.

Whether you are completing your initial teacher training this term or looking for your next stepping stone, we provide the platform, guidance, and network to help you succeed.

Choose Your Ideal Way of Working:
  • Day-to-Day Supply: Build confidence and experience across a variety of school settings, age groups, and catchments without the immediate commitment of full-time planning and assessment. It is a fantastic way to discover which key stage or school ethos suits you best while enjoying complete control over your working schedule.

  • Long-Term Opportunities: Secure a stable placement for a term or an academic year (covering maternity, interim gaps, or permanent vacancies). Long-term placements offer the perfect foundation to complete formal ECT induction terms, lead your own classroom, and build meaningful relationships with pupils and school staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver creative, engaging, and well-structured lessons aligned with the Primary National Curriculum or EYFS framework.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment where young learners feel encouraged to achieve their potential.

  • Adapt and differentiate learning tasks to support pupils of all abilities, including those with SEND or EAL needs.

  • Collaborate effectively with support staff, senior leadership, and parents to support overall pupil development.

  • For long-term roles: plan, prepare, and assess learning, track progress, and contribute to the broader school community.

What We Look For:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or expected QTS completion (ECT / NQT status).

  • Up-to-date knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum and effective classroom practice across EYFS, KS1, or KS2.

  • Confident classroom management skills combined with an encouraging, approachable, and proactive teaching style.

  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with a willingness to learn and adapt.

  • A valid Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete one).

Benefits of Working With Us:
  • Competitive rates of pay, processed weekly and reflective of your training and placement responsibilities.

  • Tailored career advice and support from a dedicated consultant specialising in the Cambridge primary education sector.

  • Fantastic networking opportunities with top-performing schools across Cambridge, often leading to permanent contract offers.

  • Complete flexibility to manage your calendar around your life and professional development goals.
