About the role
Industrial Painter
We are recruiting for experienced Industrial Painters to join a leading engineering and defence manufacturing facility in Plymouth. This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale marine engineering projects, including the maintenance and refurbishment of complex naval vessels, within a long-term and secure working environment.The Role
As an Industrial Painter, you will be responsible for carrying out surface preparation and the application of specialist protective coatings to marine structures and vessels. Working as part of a skilled multi-disciplinary team, you'll help ensure work is completed to high quality and safety standards.Key Responsibilities
Prepare steel and previously coated surfaces using approved surface preparation methods.Remove corrosion, scale and damaged coatings prior to repainting.Apply industrial coatings using brushes, rollers, conventional spray and airless spray equipment.Carry out painting of internal accommodation areas and external structural surfaces.Read and follow paint manufacturers' technical specifications and safety data sheets.Ensure all work meets quality standards and complies with health, safety and environmental procedures.Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
Requirements
Essential Experience
Previous experience within industrial, marine, heavy engineering or commercial painting environments.Competent in brush, roller, conventional spray and airless spray painting techniques.Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures, including COSHH regulations.Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow detailed work instructions.
QualificationsOne or more of the following (or equivalent experience):
ICATS qualificationTrain the Painter certificationNVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Industrial Painting, Marine Painting or Painting & DecoratingRelevant industry experience in lieu of formal qualifications
Working Hours
Full-time position (35 hours per week)Overtime and shift work may be available depending on operational requirements.
Additional Information
Due to the nature of the work, successful applicants will need to be eligible to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance. Eligibility will typically require the right to work in the UK and the ability to satisfy security vetting requirements.
