About the role
Location: Office of the Public Guardian (OPG), Victoria Square House, Birmingham, B2 4AA
Pay Rate: £13.25 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Working Pattern: Fully onsite (8:00am-4:00pm or 9:00am-5:00pm, flexibility required)
Duration: 8-month temporary assignment with potential for extension
Start Date: ASAP
Security Clearance: Standard DBS (provided via Brook Street)
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG), a respected public sector organisation based in Birmingham City Centre. We are seeking Administrative Officers to support the delivery of Power of Attorney services across a range of operational departments.
Successful candidates may be placed within one of several teams, including Casework, Administration, Quality Assurance, Document Registration, or Contact Centre Support, depending on business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will vary depending on the department assigned but may include:
- Preparing, scanning and uploading documents onto case management systems.
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring information is updated correctly.
- Processing and checking documentation in line with data protection requirements.
- Handling incoming and outgoing post.
- Recording and reporting customer payments.
- Maintaining and organising filing systems and records.
- Supporting operational teams with a variety of administrative tasks.
- Delivering excellent customer service and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Meeting quality and productivity targets while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

- Confidence using computer systems and handling data.

Physical Requirements
Please note that this role can be physically demanding. Duties may include:
- Moving bundles of files between cabinets and different floors.
- Handling and transporting documents and records.
- Spending periods of the day on your feet.
Candidates must be comfortable undertaking manual handling tasks as part of their daily responsibilities.
Training and Support
- Full training will be provided.
- There is no set training period and support will be tailored to the role and department.
- No travel is required for training purposes.
Additional Information
- There are no holiday restrictions during the training period.
