About the role
Classroom Support is delighted to be working in partnership with a well-established specialist SEN school in Gravesend, which is seeking to recruit several experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to join their dedicated team from September. This exceptional school supports children and young people across both Primary and Secondary settings, catering for pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties. The school offers an outstanding learning environment with excellent facilities and also has a nearby college provision in Gravesend. The school is divided into five specialist sectors, creating a range of opportunities for candidates with different SEN backgrounds and experience. These positions will initially be offered on a temporary basis, with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract following a successful period working through Classroom Support. The Role As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to provide high-quality support, helping pupils to access learning, develop independence, and achieve their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment. Requirements We are looking for candidates who have: • Previous experience working within an SEN school or supporting children and young people with ASD and/or Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties. • A kind, patient, and compassionate approach with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs. • Experience supporting individuals with PMLD, medical needs, or moving and handling (highly desirable). • A willingness to provide personal care where required, as some classes involve supporting pupils with intimate care needs. • A current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or the willingness to obtain one and register it on the Update Service. We also welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in care, nursing, support work, or personal care, as these skills are highly transferable to specialist education settings. Why Join Classroom Support? As an ethical, independent, and inclusive education recruitment agency, we are committed to matching high-quality education professionals with rewarding opportunities across Kent. We pride ourselves on building long-term relationships and supporting our candidates throughout every stage of their career. Whether you're looking for your next long-term role or hoping to secure a permanent position within SEN education, we're here to help. Interested? Click 'Apply Now' to submit your up-to-date CV. One of our dedicated consultants will contact you to discuss your experience, answer any questions, and guide you through the next steps. If this particular role isn't quite right for you, we'd still love to hear from you. We work with a wide range of Mainstream and SEN Primary and Secondary schools across Kent and may have other opportunities better suited to your experience and career goals. Make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with special educational needs by joining Classroom Support.
