Atkins Search is recruiting for a Senior Chartered Building Surveyor in Nottingham to join a well-established building design consultancy practice in North Nottinghamshire, specialising in Chartered Surveying, Project Management, and Principal Designer Services across the East Midlands.

Role
As a Senior Building Surveyor working in Nottingham, your key responsibilities will include:
Leading as the principal consultant advising clients on the condition, risk, and value of their built assets
Overseeing detailed building condition surveys and producing high-quality professional reports to inform strategic client decisions
Managing complex refurbishment, fit-out, and repair projects, often under JCT or NEC4 forms of contract
Providing expert advice on compliance with statutory and regulatory frameworks, including Building Regulations, Planning, CDM 2015, and accessibility standards
Diagnosing complex building defects, evaluating their root causes, and developing sophisticated, cost-effective remedial strategies
Utilising advanced investigative tools such as thermal imaging, damp testing, or drone surveys for comprehensive Nottinghamshire property assessments
Responsibilities
The Senior Building Surveyor position in Nottingham requires you to:
Lead and deliver comprehensive building consultancy services to high-profile clients across multiple sectors
Provide expert technical advice and strategic input throughout property lifecycles
Supervise and mentor junior building surveyors in their professional development
Conduct and oversee professional building surveys and inspections to identify complex defects and recommend solutions
Prepare detailed specifications and schedules of work for major repair and refurbishment projects
Lead construction projects from inception to completion with full accountability
Represent the company at senior level client meetings and negotiations
Ensure all work complies with relevant regulations and industry standards in the East Midlands
Contribute to business development and client relationship management
Person
The ideal candidate for this Senior Building Surveyor role in Nottingham will have:
Degree in Building Surveying, or a related field
Chartered status (MRICS) with minimum 7-10 years post-qualification experience
Extensive experience working for a Private Practice, Construction Consultancy, or similar organisation
Proven track record in managing complex building projects and teams · Advanced working knowledge of IT systems, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel & AutoCAD
Exceptional communication, presentation and client management skills · Substantial experience in project delivery of the design and refurbishment of existing buildings, including senior Contract Administration role
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites across the UK
