SEN Teaching Assistant – Middlesbrough

Milk Education is working with a number of welcoming and supportive Primary Schools and specialist provisions across Middlesbrough and the surrounding areas and is looking to recruit caring, patient, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join schools from September 2026.

Whether you’re an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, hold a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification, or have recent experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), we’d love to hear from you.

We have a range of long-term, full-time opportunities available, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting pupils with additional needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning while encouraging independence, confidence, and personal development within a safe and inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND.
• Support children with Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language needs, SEMH, and other additional needs.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual learning plans.
• Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
• Promote independence, confidence, and social development.
• Assist with personal care where required.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and school staff.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable.
• Previous experience supporting children with SEND within a school or educational setting.
• Understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or other additional learning needs.
• A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Passion for supporting children to achieve their full potential.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting salary will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
