About the role

Supply SEN Teaching Assistant (SEMH Specialist)

Location: Exeter, Devon

Contract: Flexible / Supply (Short-term & Long-term roles available)

Help Exeter's young people thrive.

Are you a resilient educator who understands that "behaviour is communication"? We are looking for dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants specialising in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) to join our specialist team in Exeter.

In this role, you won't just be a classroom assistant; you'll be a mentor, a stabiliser, and a champion for pupils who face significant barriers to learning.

The Role
  • Emotional Support: Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour and promote positive emotional regulation.

  • Adaptive Learning: Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored activities that meet specific EHCP goals.

  • Safe Environment: Maintain a supportive, calm, and engaging atmosphere even during high-pressure moments.

  • Multidisciplinary Work: Work alongside a dedicated team of specialists to ensure every pupil feels seen and supported.

What We Are Looking For
  • Experience: Proven track record supporting pupils with SEMH needs (essential).

  • Temperament: You are calm under pressure, empathetic, and highly resilient.

  • Adaptability: Willing to work across different age groups and school settings at short notice.

  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to build quick rapport with both staff and students.

Why Join Us?
  • Flexibility: Complete control over your diary-work as much or as little as you like.

  • Expertise: Gain invaluable experience in specialist SEMH settings that will fast-track your career in SEN.

  • Local Support: Work within Exeter's thriving educational community with a supportive agency behind you.
