About the Role

Bluestones Medical is currently recruiting experienced Scrub Nurses and Theatre Practitioners (RGN/ODP) to support Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

We are offering flexible agency opportunities for skilled theatre professionals looking to work within a specialist hospital environment. Liverpool Women’s Hospital provides specialist services across women’s health, including obstetrics, gynaecology and associated theatre services, where theatre teams play a vital role in delivering safe and effective patient care.

As a Scrub Nurse, you will provide expert support throughout the surgical pathway, working closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, ODPs and the wider multidisciplinary theatre team to ensure safe, efficient and high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide skilled scrub support during a variety of surgical procedures.
• Prepare, check and maintain surgical instruments, equipment and theatre environments.
• Work closely with surgeons and the wider theatre team to ensure safe patient outcomes.
• Maintain a sterile field and adhere to strict infection prevention and control standards.
• Perform surgical counts in line with local policies and procedures.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures.
• Assist with patient positioning, preparation and transfer where required.
• Ensure all equipment and surgical supplies are available and ready for use.
• Complete accurate patient documentation and theatre records.
• Support safe patient care throughout the perioperative journey.
• Work collaboratively with anaesthetic and recovery teams to provide seamless theatre care.

Essential Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RGN) with valid NMC Pin or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with valid HCPC registration.
• Recent UK theatre experience within a scrub role.
• Experience working within gynaecology, obstetrics or general theatre settings desirable.
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments and sterile techniques.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a busy operating theatre environment.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Ability to provide satisfactory employment references.
• Up-to-date mandatory training (or willingness to complete).
